I'm BACK! And better than ever!

Haven't posted over the last few months, due to personal reasons. Let's just say, I'm in much better spirits, the whole situation (which needed an act of god to work itself out-and it need not mentioning) is being put behind me, and things are looking up.
I have a volunteer job. I work at my library's used bookstore every Saturday morning. It's great! A lot of the volunteers are elderly, and I can handle the more physical labor that may be too taxing on them.
I'm also prepping for my first craft show. So, stitches, and time, is MONEY! I found out about the craft through an audition for a Christmas Carol. So, I have less than a month to get ready for it, but I already have tons of stuff made. I'm just making small items that I can knit up quickly. Fingerless gloves, mittens, baby booties, etc. I'm really stressing out right now.
Have to prepare for my craft show.

Coming up with a few knit and crochet designs

I've been wanting to expand beyond knitting someone else's pattern. So, I've been thinking about coming up with a few designs of my very own.
I've been obsessed with skirts for the last three years. I have several at this point, but never really wear them. I have a problem with the fit. They're either too big or too small, and they just sit in my closet, unworn, getting no love whatsoever. Sigh. So, I looked on-line on knitting pattern central and crochet pattern central for a pattern that I liked. No such luck. I decided that I'm going to sit down with some paper and a pencil, and come up with my own design. It should be on ravelry. I'm still knitting a cabled hat right now, but as soon as I get done with that, down to business.
First, I'll start off with a crocheted scarf. Since novelty scarves are out (remember four or five years ago when novelty scarves were so hot), and crocheted scarves are in, I decided to come up with a pattern for my own self-fringing one. Just to test the waters. This pattern will be on ravelry, too. Look for it.
As for my business, I'm still working on that. I still have tons to do for it, but I just want to get some other stuff out of the way before I start up my inventory again.

I made chocolate chip cupcakes last week. Instead of being made from scratch (sorry, Martha-really don't have that kind of time) I came up with my own viable subsitute. And, the bonus is that it takes an hour to make.
Chocolate chip cupcakes
Eggs
water
Vegetable oil or canola oil
1 box of yellow cake mix or 1 box of chocolate cake mix
1 bag of chocolate chips
1 can of vanilla frosting or 1 can of chocolate frosting

Preheat oven to 350 degress. Prepare your mix in a large mixing bowl according to your package. Using an electric mixer, mix until halfway mix (the mix will still be a little lumpy), and then add in half a bag of chocolate chips, using handfulls at a time. Mix until well mixed. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the mix sit in the refrigerator for an hour.
Line a muffing tin with baking cups. Remove the mix from the fridge, and using a ladle or an ice cream scooper, pour mix into the cups until they are about halfway full. Bake according to the package directions.
Remove the cupcakes from the tin, and let cool on a cooling rack. While the cupcakes are cooling, mix the frosting by removing the frosting from the can into a small mixing bowl. Pour the rest of the choclate chips in, and gently fold the chocolate chips in until the frosting and chocolate chips are well blended. Let the cupcakes cool until they are cool enough for you to touch. At that point, they should be cool enough for you to start to frost. Using a spreader, frost your cupcakes.
This recipe will make about 2 dozen cupcakes total.

Swine flu, knitting, and moving on

The Swine Flu pandemic.
I've been knitting my way through this. One of the schools in my former district has 3 students that may have the virus, and the school has closed for a week. A bunch of other schools in t he Detroit area have closed due to this-and if t here's one thing keeping me sane right now is my knitting.
I'm currently at the library, and I forgot to leave the house with my HAZMAT suit.
The swine flu is a pandemic. I'm using the term pandemic because it means worldwide. Epidemic is used on a local level. A lot of people mistake the two, but in health occupations in high school, I learned the difference between the two.
I've also been washing my hands to a point where I feel like I have OCD.
I hat e to be a germaphobe, but I will not be sick with the flu. I've had the flu three times (stomach flu-St. Patrick's Day, 1988, flu-November 1991, and the same flu in 2006), and the last few t imes, I haven't gotten sick with the flu. Apparently, there is no flu shot for t he swine flu. I haven't been eating any pork prducts-just to be on the safe side.

Knitting business.
I already have one glove made. I did find a pattern for a knitted bracelet that I'm adding to the inventory. First is a practice one just to see if I can do it.

As for moving on-I've moved on to a point where I've forgetten about what happened. I'm in a much better place than I was three months ago. I've allowed myself to finally find some sense of peace.

I don't know about you, but I've had enough of the swine flu.

I'm not playing your game.

I'm done with my six ex-friends. I think one of them is doing the other's dirty work, but I'm playing the "I'm not playing your game" game. They can't bother me anymore.
The I'm not playing your game game works very well with bears, and it works great with people, or so I've heard. Anytime one of them leaves a comment here, the post automatically gets deleted.
Since I don't think anyone is willing to talk about what happened on a maure, rational level, and not get pissed off, defensive, or confrontational-there really is no need to talk about what happened anymore. I have nothing for the ex-friends right now. Nothing. I'm not taking any of their crap anymore. Or, I may delete this blog all together.
On that note, I'm making new friends. It's been a godsend. My meeting is tommorow, and I'm looking forward to it.

Just recently discovered this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JI5AW6_lNxo
This is the Radio Clash. Watch this.

The Clash is one of my favorite bands. Check them out!
I'm trying to come up with a Clash illusion scarf. I know what colors that I want to use, I just have to come up with a way to design the scarf. If anyone out there, has any ideas, please let me know.
It feels so good to just be knitting and focusing on me for once. It feels so good just to do this.
There's only one way to go-forward. Moving on from what happened, and the old group is doing me so much good! I forgot what being healthy could be like. And, I like being healthy.
I'm working on the Kove summer scarf from http://www.knitterskove.net/ . Then, it's starting on those fingerless gloves and mittens for my business.

Knitting tips:
-When going through a break-up, knit your troubles away. It's a much healthier alternative than eating Ben and Jerry's for day.
-Don't forget to excercise! A good 20 minutes of walking, jogging, using the elliptical machine will be a big help to you all around.
